Emmet at Peace Tonight with Buds
Emmet is at Peace - August 21,2017
At 5:30 tonight Emmet joined his buddies in that place where all good dogs go (unlike Rebecca who is partying hard in that place where the other kind of dogs go). The trash cans of the world will sleep a little easier tonight knowing that Emmet's last spreading of their contents from one end of the house to the other has ended in victory. We will be retiring Emmet;s nemesis, the trash cupboard hook that denied him his God give right to access every and all trash cans.
Emmet was small but incredibly fast. When encountering a play group of other dogs his favorite move was to run at breakneck speed at a bigger dog and sideswipe. The bigger dog would chase Emmet but didnt have the remotest chance of catching him.
Emmet was the gentlest of dogs. Never once did he growl or snap or act angrily toward anyone, young or old. A few short barks at the UPS driver was about the extent of his aggression. He was also a master at taking over a bed. He would slither snake like into the bottom of the bed under the covers. Somehow over the course of the night he will have taken over the entire bed with his legs pushing the original occupant to the very edge. He was very patient with humans who would be sleeping in what he considered his bed. Sharing bed with Josh:

He never slowed down with age. He remained fast and puppy like right up to literally the very end. Even though his twelve year old body (108 human years) was riddled with cancer and he had barely eaten for the previous week he still found it in him to bound out to meet the veterinarian who had come to help him on his journey to join his buddies.
We will be posting lots of pictures but for now here is a link to a video of Emmet from when the Prenetas were homeless and living with him in a tent in our living room.

Godspeed Emmet. Say hi to the others for us.
